Fred Aikens D.M. is married to his beautiful, smart, and talented wife of 32 years, Theresa Aikens PhD. Married in 1991, and moved to Fairborn from his birthplace of Cleveland, and then settled in Huber Heights in 1994. The couple has two adult children who both attended schools in Huber Heights from start to finish. Fred and Theresa now have two small grandchildren who fill their weekends with fun and laughter. They look forward to watching them grow in Huber Heights.
Dr. Fred Aikens enrolled at Central State University in 1984 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1988. He earned a Master of Arts Degree in Management from Antioch University in 2003 and holds a Doctorate degree in Management in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, conferred in 2012. Dr. Aikens is a lifelong learner and conducts research in ethics, finance, and creating opportunities for disadvantaged and forgotten populations.
Professionally, Fred Aikens began his career with PepsiCo in the restaurant division. Specifically, he worked for the Taco Bell Corporation, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and later in his career spent some time with Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores. In his progressive career in the customer service industry, Fred always remembered to take care of his employees and treat people right. That led him to his first position in higher education, when he went back to his alma mater to share his education, experience, and knowledge with the institution that gave so much to him. Central State University is home.
Dr. Aikens currently serves as the Dean of the College of Business at CSU where he manages the budget and supervises faculty and staff of the most populated college on campus with nearly 2000 students. During his time at Central State University, Dr. Aikens has served in myriad capacities including tenured full professor, director of the Honors Program, Administrative Fellow for Academic Affairs, Department Chair, and Vice Chair of the University Senate. He belongs to several academic honor societies including Delta Mu Delta, Sigma Beta Delta, and Golden Key International Honour Society.
Dr. Aikens serves his community as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge, and other community service organizations. He held offices at the local, district, and national levels and has been honored for his service through awards, fellowships, and recognitions at all levels including internationally. Dr. Aikens most recently served on the City of Huber Heights Culture and Diversity Citizens Action Commission where he assisted in the planning and implementation of several initiatives including the Culture Festival and the Racism as a Public Health Crisis speaker series. He also worked on the Strategic Planning Committee for the Huber Heights School District in 2021.
Drs. Fred and Theresa Aikens are members of both St. Peter and St. Benedict Catholic Churches.
